Sculpting Your Home and Mood with the Art of Lighting

Lighting is fundamental to good design. It adds drama, depth, and atmosphere to a room. Whether we realize it or not, we depend on light for things like regulating our sleep cycle, feeling more energized and productive, and setting the tone for a romantic evening. Lighting also tells our eye where to look, guiding our glace toward a piece of artwork, a focal point on the floor or ceiling, or a particular piece of decor. It lights the pathway to our home and greets us the moment we walk through the door.

Because light is an integral part of our lives, it’s helpful to understand how lighting affects us and why it is essential to any interior scheme. Nothing compares with the impact lighting makes in a room. The amount, size, color, and intensity of light affect our emotions. Changing one bulb or fixture can transform an entire space and mood.

Interior lighting design is the manipulation of light, surface, and space to create light and shadow effects. It informs mood, illuminates our daily tasks.

Light is active. It bounces, diffuses, and adjusts, changing the textures and colors surrounding us in our homes. It reflects off certain materials and shines through others. Perhaps it’s the immense flexibility and endless possibilities of light that makes my heart soar with anticipation over Cokobo’s new interior lighting designs concepts. I have been spending countless hours building prototypes and testing out our designs concepts with the hope that we will soon be able to launch our first collection.
